Our beloved Hong Kong is undoubtedly one of the world's most prominent places when it comes to urbanization and metropolitan development. The latter is due to a number of factors, e.g. population density, size of territory of only 1100 sq. km and a red hot real estate market.
The relentlessness of Hong Kong's modernization has a direct impact not only on the city's skyline but indirectly on many peoples' life, daily habits and commuting routines. This trend hasn't spared also our 50-year-old Mariners' Club in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Today, Tuesday, February 27th 2018, its landmark building in 11 Middle Road, also since 1969 home to the Apostleship of the Sea (AOS, Stella Maris) mission for seafarers, is closing the doors for demolition and redevelopment, with a Mass of Thanksgiving at 6:30pm.
In order to continue offering pastoral and mass services to our seafarers, visitors and local Catholic community, the AOS and Saint Peter's Church are temporary moving to a new location in 3/F Chi Wo Commercial Building, 20 Saigon Street, Jordan », effective Saturday, March 3rd 2018.
Dear Friends, changes are often filed under the categories "challenging" and "undesired". Let's remember that throughout the whole Bible God is prompting His people with the words "Rise and go to..." so the He can put our faith to the test. Jesus was no stranger to changes and challenges. The reward for His humble and selfless submission to His Father's will is the Resurrection and victory over death!
Let's cheerfully continue to serve the Lord from our new location in Jordan knowing that the real house of the Lord is in our heart. Let's also thank Jesus for this challenge that we may consider it as an opportunity for a spiritual renewal on the path to our heavenly home.
