Jesus affirms that there is a resurrection after which, our life will be much different from what we think it will be. He says that we'll be transfigured. That everything - our life and our relationships will be changed. We will just be the children of God. We will be angels. We will no longer die. We will never be separated from God again after death. Just like the Jews of Jesus’ time, often we too are perhaps so overly concerned with the externals that we neglect the internals of our life. We work so hard to have a great and beautiful house with rich furniture, costly paintings, and all the elegance but fail to adorn our life with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience which make a happy home. We learn from today’s Gospel narrative that our entry into Jesus’ promised Paradise depends solely upon our true repentance. However, many Biblical references also suggest that it depends on how we live our lives here on earth: obviously, we don’t have to wait until we die to experience Paradise or Heaven. We can get a taste of Paradise now on earth even in the midst of whatever circumstances life on earth throws at us but only if we live our lives according to Jesus’ teachings. Read more »
A Christian is someone who is always preparing, always watchful, always ready for the moment when everything stops and we see our Lord Jesus Christ face to face. Hence, while we continue to do all the things we normally do, we shall also invest ourselves in godly activities and values. Read more »
