Self-sufficiency, self-importance, arrogance, apathy, pride, prejudice, indifference, etc. separate us from God, and therefore, He hides His face from us; He has limited His work in us. Today's gospel makes each one of us conscious of the fact that, first and foremost, we are all disciples of Jesus. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to live according to the teachings of Jesus: to love one another, John (13:34-35), to take up our cross daily and to follow him, Luke (9:23).
