Jesus always walks with us in ways both familiar to us, and in ways that remain a mystery. Especially in life’s difficult moments, when we experience a demoralizing loss of hope, when we no longer construe our future to be meaningful, when we succumb to the thought that there is no one in whom we can place our hopes, when we abandon ourselves to despair, when we are sad, Jesus is near us and walks beside us to give us courage, strength, and hope along the way. We all worship the same God whom Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and our Lord Jesus Himself worshipped. He is the God who shows us mercy. He is the God who keeps his promises for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments, Deuteronomy (7:9); Psalm (105:8); Exodus (20:6). We must be careful not to drift away from our faith. Just like the first century Christians, we too can easily drift away from our belief in Christ as God and from the truth of Christ. Spiritual drift occurs when we stop paying attention to what we hear and see; when we neglect to keep Christ as our anchor; when we keep company with people who seek to distort the Scriptures and twist Church’s teachings to appeal to the secular world; when we face opposition, ridicule and persecution as a result of our commitment to Christ. Some people live with a misunderstanding that their sins are far greater for God to want to forgive them. Some others have fallen so many times by the same sin that they feel God has given up on them. They feel that since they are never good enough in God’s sight, God is withholding His love and grace for them. Read more »
