Worship is the highest form of prayer that brings us closer to God. When we go to church, we anticipate that God will be present and active in our times of worship and that He will hear and answer our prayers. We expect Him to bless and comfort us with His words. We want Him to guide us and remove worry from our lives and put us at peace. But we must remember when we worship, God must be satisfied. Read more »
All of us are under the curse of suffering and death because of sin. “The wages of sin is death” says Saint Paul, Romans (6:23). But, in His mercy, God does not want any of us to perish. So, just as He provided Israel a healing remedy, God has provided us with a remedy for sin’s poison. He sent His Son Jesus Christ to suffer and die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins so that we could restore our relationship with Him and others and have eternal life. Read more »
In today’s Gospel, we read about an episode that occurred during the last phase of Jesus’ public ministry. Saint John recounts that some Greeks who had come to Jerusalem to worship at the Passover, approached the Apostles with a request to see Jesus. When they took the Greeks to see Him, Jesus responded by talking about the process of a grain dying in the ground in order to produce many more grains. Read more »
Like Jesus, we too have our moments of joy, happiness, triumph and victory. There are times when we rejoice; when we succeed in life and are elated; when we are well settled in life; everything sails smoothly; the winds blow certainly in our favour; our wishes are fulfilled; our jobs are secure; love is plentiful; health is perfect. Just as the stone sealing the tomb was an obstacle to those women to minister to the body of Jesus, so too may there be stones and rocks in our lives which prevent us from reaching out in faith to Jesus Christ to receive His gift of salvation or eternal life. Read more »
