Even today, some of Jesus' teachings still seem very radical to many people. All of us continually struggle to obey the commands of our Lord. But the Book of Sirach in today's first reading reminds us that if we "Choose to keep the commandments, they will save us; if we trust in God, we too will live", Sirach (15:15). Read more »
Jesus neither expects sinless perfection nor demands of us moral equality with God. But he does expect us to grow in the faith, and spiritually mature in the faith. The longer we are in the faith the better we must be as a Christian. Read more »
Temptation is all around us, testing us as even Jesus was tested. No one is above temptation or the potential to sin, 1 (John 1:8). Temptation comes in many forms, often through those near and around us. When we give into temptation and sin, we often have to pay a high price. We lose our freedom, dignity, honor, peace and joy.
